Odalan Celebration at the Hotel

On 3 March, we celebrated Odalan at Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur, a special temple anniversary observed according to the Balinese Saka Calendar. Odalan marks the sacred day when a temple is honored through prayers, offerings, and cultural performances, and it is an important moment for the community to express gratitude and devotion.

Preparations began a day before the ceremony, when our team came together to prepare various elements for the celebration. One of the highlights was creating Penjor, the beautifully decorated bamboo poles symbolizing prosperity and gratitude, which are traditionally displayed during important Balinese ceremonies. Our staff also prepared traditional Banten (ceremonial offerings) and decorated the temple within the hotel grounds to ensure everything was ready for the sacred day.

On the day of Odalan, the ceremony began at the temple located at our open stage area, where our team gathered for prayers and offerings, accompanied by traditional dance performances presented as a form of devotion. The celebration then continued to the temple near the lobby entrance, where more cultural dances were performed. Many of our guests paused to watch and witness this meaningful moment, experiencing an authentic glimpse of Balinese culture that only takes place once a year and is rarely seen up close.
