Waves & Rhythm: Nusa Lembongan Beach Festival

This September 1–7, the LST Surf & Music Festival takes over Shipwreck Reef on Nusa Lembongan, turning the neighboring island into Bali's liveliest beach party of the season. Organized by the Lembongan Surf Team, the event uses a six-day waiting window to lock in the two best surf days for competition, giving athletes the ideal conditions to show off high-performance shortboarding alongside a dedicated Old School Longboard category. The action is live-streamed for anyone who can't be there in person, though the atmosphere on the sand is really where the festival comes alive.

Between heats, Jungutbatu Beach transforms into one long celebration, with beach parties, live music, and a laid-back island buzz that pulls in surfers and non-surfers alike. Even if you're not chasing waves yourself, there's no shortage of ways to spend the day, from snorkeling and diving trips around the island's clear reef breaks to simply settling into a beachfront café and watching the competition unfold. Local surf schools and board rentals also make it easy for curious first-timers to jump in the water and try their own hand at riding a wave, whatever the skill level. The mix of adrenaline and relaxation is exactly what makes this festival such a favorite on Bali's shoulder-season calendar, drawing both competitors and spectators from across the island and beyond.

Nusa Lembongan is just a short, scenic fast boat ride from Sanur Harbour, only minutes from Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur, with most operators able to accommodate surfboards for a small extra fee if you're bringing your own gear. Make it a day trip out and back, or turn it into an overnight island escape, either way, you'll be back in time to unwind by our pool with a good drink in hand.
